Elevator Ride to the Second Level: One of the most popular options is to take the elevator ride to the second level. This is perfect for families with young kids or those who prefer a more relaxed approach. As you ascend, the breathtaking views of the city gradually reveal themselves, leaving you and your kids in awe of Paris's beauty. You can also walk down the stairs if you want the stairs experience, with a little less effort.
Climbing the Stairs for an Extra Thrill: For families with older kids, or super tough little ones seeking an extra thrill and a sense of accomplishment, consider climbing the stairs. While it may require a bit more effort, the reward is well worth it. The stairwell journey is an adventure in itself, with interesting facts and displays along the way. Once you reach the second level, you'll be greeted by the same stunning views as those who took the elevator, but with an added sense of pride in your ascent. We took the elevator to the first floor and then walked up to the second level with our kids. We also did the whole descent on the stairs, and the kids enjoyed the experience a lot! It makes the views last longer when you take the stairs.

The crowds at the Louvre can be pretty overwhelming. Make sure to pack snacks and water, and plan your route. Take breaks and remember that there is no way to see it all in one visit!
Make sure to reserve well in advance!!! Time slots book up really fast, and the same day access line is long and does not guarantee that you'll be able to visit.

The river cruise is a nice thing to do in the morning before you head up the Eiffel tower for lunch at Madame Brasserie! Since the cruise starts at the Eiffel tower it makes a very convenient combination of activities.

Make the most of your central location near the Eiffel Tower by spending a delightful day at Champ de Mars. Spread out a picnic blanket, and watch as your children revel in the open space, their laughter echoing against the backdrop of the iconic tower. Bring along a soccer ball, frisbee, or kite for added excitement, creating cherished memories of playtime beneath the Parisian sky. And as the day transitions to night, be sure to witness the Eiffel Tower's mesmerizing light show, a truly magical experience that will leave your family in awe.
9. Disneyland Paris: Where Dreams Come True
For a magical day filled with laughter and joy, head to Disneyland Paris. But before you dismiss it as just another theme park, let me transport you to a world of enchantment and adventure that's unlike any other. Disneyland Park Paris is not just a place; it's an experience that weaves dreams into reality.
Meet Beloved Disney Characters: As you step through the iconic gates, your family will be welcomed into a realm where beloved Disney characters come to life. Imagine the delight in your little one's eyes as they share a hug with Mickey Mouse, have a chat with Cinderella, or snap a photo with their favorite Disney princess. These interactions aren't just meet-and-greets; they're cherished memories that your children will hold close to their hearts. If you don't feel like waiting in really long lines for the character meet and greets, consider booking Character Dining! We were lucky to get a last minute cancellation spot, so we had dinner in the park and all of the classic characters came around to the table to see the kids and get pictures! We saw Mickey & Minnie, Goofy and Pluto, Eeyore and Tigger. It was a pretty special experience.
Thrilling Rides and Adventure: The park is brimming with thrilling rides and adventures for all ages. From the exhilarating roller coasters that make older kids scream with joy to the gentle attractions perfect for little ones, there's something for everyone. Take a whirl through Wonderland with Alice, journey into the unknown with Indiana Jones, or embark on a space adventure with Buzz Lightyear. The excitement is infectious, and you'll find yourself laughing and cheering along with your children.
I know when I was planning our trip, I didn't know what rides to put on our mandatory checkpoint list. To help you out, here are the favorites from my family. I would definitely recommend doing both parks in one day if you have the fast pass. The Walt Disney Studios isn't that big, so we started our day there and were there until about lunch (1pm) and then went over the main park. At the end of the day on the way back towards the train station we went back to the Studios to do a few of the favorite rides again!

I really enjoyed all the rides! My husband and I both did the Indiana Jones ride on our own since both kids were too short, and it was the least interesting. It lacks the story and experience of the other rides, so my daughter was quite happy to know that the ride she missed was the best one to miss!
Do the FAST PASS!! It is 1000000% worth the money. I know it's a lot. I had to steel myself and I really agonized over it. Everyone had told me to do it, but I just wasn't convinced. After much discussion, we decided we wanted to make the most of our day, and if we only got to do half the rides it might save us some cash, but will also mean we miss half of the experiences.
FastPass Options:
Standard Fast Pass: This is the traditional Fast Pass option, available to all park guests. It allows you to reserve access to select attractions, shows, and character meet-and-greets in advance, reducing your wait time significantly. You can obtain Standard Fast Passes at designated distribution points throughout the park.
Disney Premier Access: This is a paid service that offers more flexibility and convenience. With Disney Premier Access, you can reserve access to some of the most popular attractions, including Big Thunder Mountain, Star Wars: Hyperspace Mountain, and Ratatouille: The Adventure. The advantage is that you can reserve these attractions on the same day of your visit using the Disneyland Paris app. You can buy access to one ride at a time, or you can buy the all inclusive pass which is not time specific. You can't use the fast pass more than once on each ride.
An interesting note for us was that we bought 4 since we have 4 people in our family and there were quite a few rides we wanted to do all together. However, some rides my son was too small to go on (i.e. Hyperspace Mountain, Avengers) so in that case, my daughter could use his pass and go twice (once with each parent). It worked out really well! The scanners just read the QR code and the staff make sure you have enough passes for the number of people getting in line, but they aren't checking the names on the fast passes....so that was definitely a huge help in making us feel like we got to utilize the full value of the premier access, even though my son was too small to do all the fast pass rides!
Pros:
Reduced Wait Times: Fast Pass options allow you to skip the regular lines for attractions, saving you valuable time during your visit. This is key!!
Convenience: Disney Premier Access, in particular, offers the convenience of reserving attractions on the same day through your smartphone, eliminating the need to visit distribution points.

Cons:
Additional Cost: Disney Premier Access comes at an extra cost, which may not be ideal for budget-conscious visitors.
Limited Availability: Fast Passes are subject to availability, and not all attractions participate in the program. Therefore, you may not always get access to your top choices.
Advance Planning: Standard Fast Passes require some advance planning as they must be obtained in person at distribution points, and availability can run out quickly during peak times.

Tips for Visiting Versailles with Kids:
Arrive Early: To avoid long lines (buy a timed ticket in advance) and crowds, arrive at Versailles early in the day. This will give your family more space to explore and enjoy the palace and gardens.
Rent a Golf Cart: If you have younger children who may tire easily from walking, you can rent a golf cart to tour the expansive gardens comfortably. We bought the mini train ticket to tour the estate since our kids always enjoy shared transportation, but there were such long lines waiting to get picked up from every stop along the way. A golf cart would have been a much better way to get around!
Educational Activities: Engage your children in educational activities like scavenger hunts or historical quizzes to make the visit more interactive and informative. Podcasts are also great! We really enjoyed History Storytime for Kids. It’s funny and provides excellent bite size historical stories that were a great addition to our travel time around Paris.
Bring Snacks and Water: Keep your little explorers fueled and hydrated throughout the day with snacks and water.

11. Chateau de Vaux le Vicomte: A Fairytale Escape
For an enchanting day trip, embark on a short train journey from central Paris to the captivating Chateau de Vaux le Vicomte. This 17th-century masterpiece is a veritable treasure trove of French history and culture. It is actually the castle that inspired the Palace of Versailles!
The story behind the castle is fascinating, and our family had such a wonderful time visiting. It is much less busy, and just as beautiful (if not more) than the Palace of Versailles. As your family explores the meticulously landscaped gardens and majestic castle, your children will feel like royalty, stepping into a fairytale world that seems plucked from the pages of a storybook. You can also purchase costumes at the gift shop, so our kids picked out a cloak and a knight costume. It made the pictures around the castle that much more memorable. You can also a book a guided tour of the underground river: River of the Underworld. The tour guide was a fabulous actor and really got the kids into the whole adventure. Although it says on the website that the tour is only available in French, our tour guide spoke excellent English and offered to do the tour in English for us. Everybody gets to wear hip waders and head lamps, so that's always a fun way to head out on a family adventure! Check out their website for more details!
12. Villages Nature Paris: A Splash of Adventure
On scorching summer days, beat the heat by immersing your family in the refreshing waters of the AquaLagoon, a thrilling water park that promises hours of fun for the whole family. Whether it's zooming down water slides or lazing by the pool, it's the perfect way to spend the day. The AquaLagoon is a mostly indoor waterpark, so you can enjoy it year-round. The Nature Parc day pass also gives you access to indoor and outdoor play spaces, the farmyard area, and much more. The kids loved the mini jeeps we could rent! We used the emergency stop remote quite a bit, but the kids had a great time as their first experience operating their own mini vehicle.
You can also stay at this location, they have a wide range of accommodation!
13. Aquarium at Val d'Europe: Dive into Discovery
For an underwater adventure, visit the Aquarium at Val d'Europe. Your young marine enthusiasts will be mesmerized by the colorful fish and captivating sea creatures. It's a fun and educational experience for kids of all ages. Val D'Europe is one station from Disneyland Paris on the RER A train, so you can access this easily as a day trip from Paris, or from Disneyland if you are staying at one of those hotels.
14. Canoe/Kayak Tour: Paddle Along the Grand Morin
Get back to nature with a canoe or kayak tour on the Grand Morin through Loc’Adventure. This outdoor activity is ideal for families who crave a bit of adventure. Paddle through serene waters, soak in the natural beauty, and create lasting memories. The short 5-6km loop includes two areas where you get to go down a slight incline in the canal for the gentlest white water experience, making it thrilling for kids without being too stressful for parents. Be sure to take a change of clothes; you'll probably get a bit wet! The tour leaves from the town of Crecy La Chapelle, which is a perfect place to enjoy lunch or a visit to the bakery (boulangerie).
15. Crecy-La-Chapelle: A Quaint French Getaway
Escape the hustle and bustle of Paris and explore the small town of Crecy-La-Chapelle. Stroll through its charming streets, discover hidden gems, and savor authentic French cuisine at a local café. It's a peaceful retreat that offers a glimpse into rural French life. The Grand Morin Kayak adventure starts in Crecy-La-Chapelle, so plan to stop in at the local bakery for some incredible treats, and some of the best pain au chocolat!
16. Vimy Ridge: A Historical Journey
If your family has a keen interest in history, consider a day trip to the Canadian World War One site of Vimy Ridge. This poignant experience will help older children understand the sacrifices made during wartime. The site itself is well-preserved, and there are free tours offered of the trenches and underground tunnels. The walk from the trenches to the Monument is a nice stretch of the legs, and you can see the battered landscape from artillery fire. It's a truly unique experience that I highly recommend.
Tips and Tricks for a Memorable Trip
Use Public Transportation: Paris has an excellent metro system, making it easy to get around. Download Google Maps for directions and metro station locations. Driving in France will get you your PhD in roundabouts! Driving is a great way to get around the country, but within the city, avoid the car!
Paris Museum Pass: Consider getting a Paris Museum Pass for access to various attractions. It can save you time and money.
Beat the Lines: Buy skip-the-line tickets for popular attractions like the Louvre Museum and Eiffel Tower to avoid long waits.
Pack for All Weather: Paris weather can be unpredictable, so pack for both sunshine and rain, especially if you're visiting during the rainy season.
