Orlando is known worldwide for its theme parks, and they are a must-visit for families looking for endless fun. Here’s the list of the parks, and a breakdown of each one!
Walt Disney World:
When it comes to family fun, Disney is at the top of the list. With four incredible theme parks, each offering unique experiences, there’s truly something for every member of the family. Here’s a breakdown of the amazing things to do at each park. It is overwhelming, so just relax and remember you can’t do it all, so pick the highlights that are most important to your family and have the best day of your life:
Main Street, U.S.A.: Step into a charming town square that transports you to a classic American small-town. It’s a great spot for photos and some of the best parades, like the Festival of Fantasy Parade. My daughter absolutely loved the parade, even though I didn’t really expect it to be a highlight!
Fantasyland: Meet favorite characters like Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, and Elsa from Frozen. Young children will love It’s a Small World, Peter Pan’s Flight, and the enchanting Enchanted Tales with Belle.
Adventureland: Families can set sail on Pirates of the Caribbean, explore the Swiss Family Treehouse, and take a ride on the Jungle Cruise.
Tomorrowland: Older kids and thrill-seekers can enjoy Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and the brand-new TRON Lightcycle/Run coaster.
Frontierland: Hop aboard Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or cool off on Tiana’s Bayou (previously Splash Mountain), making it a perfect area for family fun.

My family opted to do 3 parks over 7 days, so we had some downtime between the go-go-go of a day at Disney and could just relax at the pool, play mini-golf, and enjoy a slower pace. If you don’t want relax, just some different activities, keep reading for LOTS of other ideas of activities to do in Orlando outside of the theme parks. Personally, I don’t think you need to purchase the park to park passes at Disney if you are going over several days.

Express Passes: If you want to skip the long lines, consider purchasing Express Passes, which are valid for most attractions. Yes, it is pricey, but considering the amount of time you spend waiting in line without express passes, it’s some of the best money you can spend!
Character Meet-and-Greets: Check the daily schedule for opportunities to meet characters from Despicable Me, The Simpsons, and more. It’s a highlight for younger kids.
Ride Restrictions: Many rides have height requirements, so be sure to check these in advance if you have young children. There are child swap stations, so if there is one member of your family who is too small or doesn’t want to ride, one parent can wait with the child and then swap to go on the ride when the other parent returns. It’s a great option so everyone who wants to ride, gets the chance to do so.
